A basic role of government is to ensure citizens feel safe and free from the risk of danger, injury or loss. In NSW there are many organisations that help keep people safe including our Police Force, Fire Brigade, Rural Fire Service, State Emergency Service and Surf Life Savers.

Crime represents a serious threat to the safety of citizens, and imposes a social and economic cost on the community.

The NSW Liberals & Nationals have already released a number of policies that will make NSW communities safer including our:

• Highway Patrol Plan:
  Plan to put Highway Patrol Officers back where they most are needed – on our roads and highways.
• Safe Driving Incentive Scheme:
  Proposal to reward safe drivers and encourage others to improve by cutting licence renewal fees by 50 per cent for people with driving records free of offences for at least five years.
