General Recommendations:
- Concern for the lack of engagement and communication between the State Government and the community.
- Ministers need to be more readily available to listen and communicate with residents and local businesses – the community is aware of the problems and issues occurring and are ready to provide insight on what solutions can help.
- Recommendation for Local Government audits – this will help ensure representatives are on top of local issues and are responsive.
- Recommendation for increased partnerships between local communities / organisations and the State Government.
- Concern regarding a lack of Local Council representation from Shellharbour through to Sydney, following the sackings of Shellharbour & Wollongong Councils.
- State Government representatives need to ensure they visit the Illawarra more regularly – not enough communication.
- Recommendations on transport issues – closure of Dunmore railway station could lead to transport difficulties for the elderly.

Healthier Stream:
- Recommendation to bring back the matron into our hospitals as in this position, the matron is aware of the administration & management processes within the hospital.
- Recommendation to re-engage and empower nurses at the local level and provide them with the education to enforce roles and delegate responsibility.

|
Safer Stream – Police:
- Recommendation to involve Non-Government / Community organisations in driving safer communities. Education and training is needed to increase the numbers of administration / office workers within the police force so more police can be out on the street – needs to be an increased police presence through the Illawarra.
- Concern regarding the lack of respect for Senior Police – respect from younger officers needs to be established and understanding between junior and senior offices that they can learn from each other.
